K1 / K3 MBBR Bio Media for Aquaculture and Wastewater

Aquaculture and Wastewater Treatment Using by Biological MBBR K1 and K3 Media

Biological Media are essential products for modern wastewater and sewage treatment plant. Biological treatment plants in the every industry require a large amount of biological K1 and K3 MBBR media

MBBR technology employs thousands of polyethylene biofilm carriers operating in mixed motion within an aerated wastewater treatment basin. Each individual biocarrier increases productivity through providing protected surface area to support the growth of heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria within its cells. It is this high-density population of bacteria that achieves high-rate biodegradation within the system, while also offering process reliability and ease of operation.

This technology provides cost-effective treatment with minimal maintenance since MBBR processes self-maintain an optimum level of productive biofilm. Additionally, the biofilm attached to the mobile bio carriers within the system automatically responds to load fluctuations.

K1 & K3 Bio Filter MBBR Media has been one of the most well documented biological solutions for the treatment of water for ponds, aquariums, and waste water. K1 & K3 MBBR Bio Media is perfect DIY applications for moving bed filter applications and is research proven to be efficient. MBBR K1 & K3 Bio Media provides maximum surface area for the growth of beneficial bacteria to colonize making this media very efficient. With matured bacteria, this media is the most efficient in removing ammonia and nitrites. MBBR K1 & K3 Bio Media is designed to be self-cleaning and to constantly move freely within your filter, requiring little to no maintenance.

How does it work?

Bio Media Plus is designed to be slightly buoyant and move freely or remain static (still) in your filter. The bio-media provides the maximum surface area necessary to allow beneficial bacteria to colonize (grow) and remove ammonia and nitrites from your water. Removing ammonia and nitrites from your water is essential for healthy koi (fish) also Vannamei Shrimp. As the bio-media moves around in the filter chamber the bacteria go to work and start removing the ammonia and nitrites. When your bacteria mature Bio Media Plus is the perfect and most efficient way to remove ammonia and nitrites.

How is Bio Media Plus different and self cleaning?

MBBR Bio Media Plus is engineered and designed to provide a place for the bacteria to grow and still be protected while it is moving around in the filter chamber. While water and air in your filter chamber cause the bio-media to move around, the "old" or "dead" bacteria along with any solid waste to fall off. This chaotic movement makes the filter media self cleaning. This will also make room for new bacteria to colonize inside the protected wheel.

How much MBBR Bio Filter Media do I need?

How much you need will depend on your filter chamber. The chamber should be filled approximately 60% to 75%. Here are some some rough estimates:

Based on estimated fish weight:
. K1 - Every 2 cubic feet will support about 35 pounds of fish
. K3 - Every 2 cubic feet will support about 33 pounds of fish
Based on amount of daily food fed:
. K1 - Every 2 cubic feet will support about .65 lb. of food per day
K1 - 11 x 7 mm.
